  • wasting time...

study......study........study......ahhhhhhhhhhh I'll go crazy from this, but these days if I'm not at the library I get distracted too easily (computer anyone?) and I'm too lazy to walk to the library that is across the street from my house....so I've been wasting too much time. For three weeks I've been like "okay I'll stop procrastinating starting tomorrow!" and...obviously it's not working?

I haven't posted on my insane day at Lotte World (and that must have been like a month ago. sigh) and I didn't post about my Seoul Touring day like a week ago (that was the day I posted about TVXQ. sigh. On the topic of TVXQ, I swear, where there is smoke there is fire. There were rumours about Jekki for awhile before it actually happened -_-) - I should learn to use my punctuation and stuff better. I have this bracket addiction these days.

Okaaaaay, now I will write about the MBC FM4U Summer Music Festival. It was insane. I should be writing this in Korean on my Korean blog that I have yet to open (obviously because I haven't written a post yet and I have no plan of doing so in the near future?) - but no thanks, I'll pass. :)

So. I was planning on going really early in the morning, and I had planned on meeting someone else there as well, but because of sudden changes in my schedule I couldn't go early and so the person that I planned to meet there stood in line and got seat numbers for both of us. I went after lunch, arrived there and because the seat number we had was 29 and 30, we were in the front. We waited for sooooo long, but actually I don't have much to say about that because I only waited like five hours in line as opposed to her ten. xP anyways, so in line there were these people going by selling food, water, glow-in-the-dark sticks, disposable raincoats and the like - and at the front of the line there were a lot of young(er) people (as in middle/high schoolers like me and the other girl I went with) who were all Epik High fans. Actually it was pretty funny because in line, when we talked about Jekki or Jiwon or turned on music everyone would sortof look at us funny or whisper to themselves. When just the two of us were sitting and no one was listening we were talking about how oppa was so much better than Epik High or Tablo or whatever - so I sort of thought, Tablo was born in '80, so was Suwon/Jiyong/Sunghoon, and yet just because Jekki debuted 12 years ago they're considered to be so much older than everyone else. And same for the fans - why does everyone consider it such a weird thing to be still a Jekki fan now?

So we were going to see if we could watch Jiwon's rehearsal, and we waited (automatically having assumed he would arrive last). But the rehearsal was almost ending and he hadn't gone yet, so we asked one of the staff whether he had already gone (considering the very very very small possibility). And of course, he had. That was one of the most absurd things ever, though - being late every time except for when you expect him to be late. Another thing was where Epik High was unloading from their van and there were fans all around the van and (we were unable to see but) according to the people who came back from seeing them at the van were talking about how Tablo waved to them, how Tukuts said hi, bla bla. And we tried not to be jealous. Jiwon is so well known for his sucky fan service (to be mentioned later). Doesn't matter, though -that's just the way he is. :T

Anyways, yeah, we were lonely. Everyone else there were Epik High/Movement fans. Something I want to make clear is that I didn't go just to see oppa - yes I was interested in all the K-hop and all that - and so it was nice to know how all the other hiphop maniacs did have an interest in Jiwon and all that. Because, thinking of how even six or seven years ago, when Jiwon first started his hiphop thing and everyone was unable to accept it - and back then he had said that he "does not claim to be a hiphop artist, merely an artist that likes hiphop a lot" - anyways, he had been going through a lot of stuff. And now, seeing him on 1n2d and all I'm glad he's over all that, and that having found a sufficient place between mainstream and hiphop it's just nice to see how all that's over.

So. We waited a lot - and it was even delayed fifteen minutes. It started at 7:45ish, by which time the sky turned all black (because of clouds) and these heavy raindrops fell from the sky in like one-minute intervals. (You know, like a leaking tap or something). The concert started with Epik High - cleopatra it was /loud/. Fans - dressed in Epik High tshirts and with scarves and everything - they were loud. Anyways. After that was Jang Giha and then Crying Nut and...then...

Okay, I can't remember the order of which everything was in, but anyways what's important is that then Drunken Tiger and Yoon Mirae came out. I was already aware that Tiger JK rocked - but Yoon Mirae (I have this continued urge to spell her name as one word - xD) /really rocked/. Seriously. She seemed to have a bit of a hard time with Korean (or was it just me?) but anyways she was really good. By then the atmosphere was pretty up and the people in the front seats were all jumping up and down and other people even went so far as to forsake their seats and go up to the front of the stage.

Then YoonMirae (I have given in to my impulse. I apologise.) or someone? It was so loud and it started raining a lot and then I think she was like "introducing EUN JI WON!!!!" and the screens were spelling his name out and me and the other girl I went with ran to the front of the stage (there had already been like two rows of people, so we couldn't get in to the very front but we squeezed in relatively close). We had already been waving silver balloons from a distance, but as soon as oppa came on stage we ran up and they did a song, and then the MC came back on stage after the song. Then all the people filed back to their seats, and the MC did like this interview with the three of them (oppa, Tiger JK, YoonMirae) - about things that were 'red' (because the theme of the day was 'red' and so we were supposed to wave red light sticks and wear red and all that, but of course nothing would make us give our silver balloons up). I think there were some random questions about if there were any relationships they regretted, how many times they had been in love (and we were thinking, wtf?) and for the first question the MC decided that since YoonMirae and Tiger JK were married (and not to mention, to /each other/, LOL) the question should go to Jiwon. lol it seems Jiwon is rather sensitive about relationship issues these days - or is it just me? especially on tv (because he's everywhere on tv these days).

MC: So, Eun Jiwon-ssi, have there been any relationships you have regretted?
jw: What, like I should have left earlier?
    *everyone laughs*
MC: Since he's started variety shows and all, he's been starting to take life as a joke!
(me thinking: wait, wasn't that the question in the first place? oh, it wasn't?! okay nevermind)
    jw: no, actually, there haven't.

So that ended and Jiwon started his songs again - I can't remember which order they were in, but anyways he did One Step Two Step (was that the title? lol this is so sad, I can't even remember the title of his song) and then 8t Truck and Micasaro and All Famy (of COURSE) and Adios and Dangerous (as well as Kill Me). The fact that he did Kill Me already says that of course, he brought Gilme with him. Cleopatra, Gilme is /so pretty/. This was my first time seeing her live, though all the other fans have probably seen her so many times for Love Cuts that they're sick of her. xD uhmmmm. I can't really explain it - she's just pretty. The Fresh Boys were there too - Ceejay and the other guy that I don't know the name of. It was nice to see Jiwon bringing everyone around with him, though. Especially the Fresh Boys, who were really nice to us silver-balloon fans - being aware of the fact that we were there to see Jiwon but Jiwon was totally ignoring us despite how close we were. Iunno, but on many accounts fans come to think that Jiwon hates his fans and loves everybody else. Actually there were a lot of fans on the left side of the stage, and I think the two of us must have been the only fans in the center - and so regardless of whether or not it was intentional Jiwon only performed on center&right side of the stage. And he totally ignored us. From a long time back Jiwon was well known for his turning his back on fans, ignoring them, etc - because he doesn't know what to /do/ with us, he can't handle it. XD The important thing is, at least the Fresh Boys were nice to us - and Gilme would have been, I'm sure, but she didn't come close enough to the front of the stage. Jiwon, though, was very nice to everyone else. We sang along with him - he was really good with the crowd despite the fact that he did turn his back on his fans. xP

Then Jiwon's part ended and we filed out (because the last performance was Kim Janghoon, and btw he sang Couple. Isn't that sad? Yes, /the/ Jekki Couple - as much as I have nothing against Kim Janghoon or his partriotism or whatever I don't like other singers singing that song very much. Doesn't matter, though - being such a famous/popular song, can't be helped). We waited at Jiwon's van to see him one last time - he came with these bodyguard people and his manager and all that snazz, and the bodyguards were all telling us to back away, so we did - and a couple of fans shouted out to him and all. What was even funnier was that one of the Fresh Boys came behind him, and no one cared - in fact it was really hard to tell whether he was a musician/bodyguard/manager/normal person who came to watch the show. Sad.

So, yeah - that's pretty much it. Then I went home and the next day on the internet a bunch of fans were talking about how much Jiwon hated us....He's said a number of times how his activity these days (like 1n2d or other such variety tv shows on which he appears) has made him better with people and less sensitive about things like personal hygiene and has made him more open to different foods and stuff (of course, being the 'gakha' of Jekki and all that XD - and this change isn't even a good thing!)...but what hasn't changed since twelve years ago is the fact that he doesn't. like. his. fans.

Of course, we're all overinterpreting stuff, but /still/.

  • kwon jiyong: i laugh at you

because my birthday is august 18th.
(lolzirule) nothing against kwon jiyong. just wanted to point that out.

    on the topic of birthdays,

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAEDUC<3

I should have posted this on blogger, but I figured since Izzru's missing and Jama reads my Xanga and no one else is interested anyways, I could post anywhere I wanted. :) yes Jaeduc, stay dorky forever! Hope you're having a good time in service (wow excellent contradiction....good time in service) - don't cause trouble (if you did we'd still love you anyways) be healthy and happy and...when you come back from service I will be waiting for an album (or if Jaeduc has to wait for Suwon, that'll be two years from now - by which time I will be isolated from everything but books - but anyways).

...I should have just written this in Korean and sent him a letter. Too late now. :P

Ow my eyes hurt from looking at those yellow letters for too long - I would write about the concert I went to yesterday but I'm too tired and have other stuff to do. I'll do that tomorrow (cleopatra I saw Jiwon up so close - but he kept ignoring all the people who were holding silver balloons-_-). btw Jiwon's lost a lot of weight and he came on with the earrings too (that we haven't seen for such a long time - it was nice seeing it back). Gilme is so pretty it's scary. I'll write about it later.

  • tvxq?

Three members of the highly popular Korean boyband TVXQ/ DBSK have filed a lawsuit against their agency SM Entertainment on July 31. The application seeks to terminate all exclusive rights SM Entertainment has over them.

The three members are Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and Hero Jaejoong. The other two members U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin did not file a lawsuit as they are busy preparing for their debut dramas.

SM Entertainment head honcho Lee Soo-man, who was in the US, has reportedly flown back to South Korea after hearing the news.
    -

okay, I don't even understand what I'm doing - back from a day of vigorous (!) seoul touring (lol. touring.) at 11:28 Saturday night and I'm just thinking I should write about this when it comes to mind.
    1) I don't even care about these kids. I don't care about their music, I don't care about whatever they have with Hallyu, I don't care about SM and Shinhwa or HOT or any of the other kids who are or previously were under the SM line - actually, while we're on that I also have very little interest about Korean celebrities, or just about (the majority of) celebrities at all. Which makes me think, why the chair am I writing about, much less even thinking about this issue at all? Or is it even an issue? It's a total waste of my time, but I don't give reasons for stuff.

    2) Now that I think about it, SM has a lot of international successes. 'Perfect' idol groups - starting from HOT to today's SNSD or Shinee or whatever - and groups with really really really really (excuse lack of vocabulary - I just see this as the best way to express it) big fan groups. Apparently Cassiopeia, the name of the TVXQ official fan club, is the largest in the world. And if (this is the very small possibility - IF) at such a point in which TVXQ is so popular domestically as well as internationally, they were to disband, this would cause a problem. In such a situation, what the 6kies fans did would become nothing because people would come from all over the world to protest/mourn/do whatever in Korea. I don't know why I'm saying something that's so obvious - but this leads to #3:

    3) So yes, it's unrealistic. So I've thought about it - the disbanding of idol groups, especially in Korea where they are 'produced' by a certain label and the rights that the label excercises over the celebrities is extremely big - and yeah. Such companies mistreat their celebrities and of course this was a really really really (again, I apologise) big problem with 6kies, but I've heard the same for a lot of other groups that have disbanded. And of course most of the time, after the fads have passed the groups just naturally fade away - of course there was an exception in the case of 6kies, but excluding this and all the problems we had - but not only that but after awhile the celebrities realise that they are no longer bound and dependent on the labels that they had started off with. And they realise they don't have to put up with all this unfair treatment - and that's what happened to 6kies, and that's what (seems like) is happening to TVXQ.

    4) Okay, so I got it. The /reason/ I wanted to organise my thoughts on this was because it reminded me of a lot of stuff. A lot of stuff that was relevant to me, as much as I am uninterested in such issues. I was just thinking that maybe this would make the issues of labels more relevant to the fans of today's generation (whoa, I am not this old). I read something on the internet about how kids today /like/ the labels that their favourite groups are from - but they like these labels not realising what sort of unfair treatment the celebrities recieve. And without thinking, they say "don't say bad stuff about SM/DSP/YG/JYP (not jyp, they're possibly the only ethical label in Korea. nevermind)" - but they don't realise what the celebrities actually go through. So thinking about the effects of such a possibility of TVXQ disbandment -

    5. the effects. Cleopatra this would really kill. A lot of people around me like TVXQ (and coincidentally I sort of hate all of them. I don't dislike TVXQ - it's just that a lot of their fans, or at least the ones I've met are really sucky and they have that sort of reputation to non-tvxq fans) and recently I even heard this girl talking about how she would skip school to go to the Dream Concert to see tvxq. Especially in such a situation where TVXQ is really popular in Japan right now and all - SM wouldn't make it happen. They wouldn't make the stupid choice that DSP did nine years ago - sigh - and maybe that is a good thing, because as much as I wished something happened to all these sucky fans I don't wish they'd express their /anger/ to the world I don't think anyone really deserves anything like that to happen. The sheer /scale/ of the celebrity scene is different (a LOT) from nine years ago. But this in itself is a redlight - and at some point something will happen. And I'll just be glad I'm not a part of it.

    6. I have no idea what I just spent like thirty minutes writing. Just thoughts about labels, celebrities, disbandment. Just because it's something that means so much to me. I don't really feel like I've wasted time, though, because I would have wasted that time watching tv otherwise. Anyways. As much as I don't enjoy their fans, I would like to spare people from what happened nine years ago to us. And no one would be as stupid as to make it happen the way it did for us nine years ago - but /still/. This is ridiculous.

  • the /real/ problem with hp movies is that

(and yes, I have watched it this time) - the books are too long and have too much of a connection with each other just to cut them off as two-hour movies. BUT I understand why they put in that OOC Hermione scene where she goes crying to Harry about Ron - because otherwise the rest of the people who hadn't read the books and didn't care about canon would still be thinking (a la sorceror's stone) about H/Hr. Which is sad. I love JKR. She's a genius.

Otherwise, I actually liked it. I heard people around me saying there were no fight scenes, it was hard to understand, bla bla bla but actually the reason it was hard to understand was because you have to read the books to sort of get it. It feels like there was not much actual action or story in the movie, but that's because (and even the books are like that - ) HBP is just making for DH. People would expect action and all that in every one of the movies, but the point of HBP was Dumbledore dying, the HBP (aka Snape) and H/Gness.

If you want action in every one of the movies, iunno. Just go watch LoTR or something. (My mom kept talking about how Dumbledore made her think she was really watching a LoTR movie. lol) I think the point of HBP was mainly to prove the awesomeness of Snape. Seriously - I love Snape. Especially in the seventh book you realise just /what/ Snape means to the series - that he signifies redemption and love and all these really strong themes that are represented in Harry Potter.

Yesterday, while I was walking home at midnight coming back from the movies I was thinking about when I had been so obsessed with Harry Potter. Especially back when I had been spending entire days on Mugglenet - and back then there had been a lot of people obsessed as well. When the sixth/seventh book hadn't been out yet. And just thinking, maybe in like ten or twenty years it'll be like something of the 00's, and we'll remember that and be like "oh yeah, remember harry potter?". That would be cool.

Just another thought, but the R/H in the movies have really good chemistry. Like Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. Just a thought.
